Dr. Gilliam Interview: Family Net Radio

How much is obesity costing your company? And what are you doing about it?

The American workplace has a serious problem and it is hitting companies just like yours right in the wallet.

Obesity. Workers are getting heavier, their kids are getting heavier, and the financial burden they’re placing on companies is getting heavier by the minute.

Because obese employees have more health problems, their insurance premiums cost more than their “normal weight” counterparts. They fall victim to expensive injuries. They take lots of sick days. And when they are at work, they’re less productive than they would be if they were fit, healthy, and—yes—happy.

Factor in skyrocketing healthcare costs and projections of rising obesity percentages and your economic picture begins to look bleak, indeed. (To see just how bleak, click here to access our Obesity Cost Calculator.)

You’ll be happy to hear there is some good news. We at T. Gilliam and Associates offer an integrated corporate wellness program that can help all of your employees achieve and maintain a healthy body weight. Move It. Lose It. Live Healthy! is based on sound, sane, scientific nutrition and fitness principles—no fads, gimmicks or “quick fixes.”

We offer a wealth of cafeteria-style components—including a book, newsletters, weekly challenges, customized weight tracking programs, motivational full color posters that change every month . . . even paycheck reminders . . . all designed to educate and inspire employees. Your goal, of course, is to put the brakes on rising health costs . . . but getting the credit for helping employees turn their lives around isn’t a bad side benefit!

Please take a moment to explore our website. You’ll discover that we can customize a program of any size that works for your corporate wellness goals.

We hope you will realize that you can help your employees achieve healthy body weights. And their loss will be everyone’s gain.
